The OBM cuttings sludge treatment and WBM cuttings sludge dewatering unit is also part of the drilling waste management. In this chapter, it is our pleasure to give brief introduction about the OBM/WBM waste slurry dewatering unit. The dewatering unit usually composed of below items:

1)     Rotary feed pump/ Submersible slurry pump for feeding the unit

2)     Mud hopper with a inclined screw conveyor for feeding the slurry tank

3)     Slurry tank with mud agitators and mud level meters for monitoring.

4)     Feed pump (Slurry pump) for feeding to filter press with good-designed pipelines

5)     Filter Press unit for pressing the slurry, dewatering and thickening

6)     Oil/water collection and separation tank

7)     Oil discharge rotary pump and water discharge pipeline pump etc.

The picture below is of our project completed commissioning service in Nigeria. Our partner is a well-known drilling waste management service company with several sets of Thermal desorption unit, hundreds of mud skips, mud decanter centrifuges and vertical cuttings dryers.  Our partner bought the sludge dewatering unit to reduce the sludge volume and recover the oil from the OBM cutting sludge. After we worked with them about 1 week, the team quickly grasp the skills to operate the sludge system and achieve expected result. We like to work with our partners in the jobsite, we can have a much better understanding about work condition by working with our partner at jobsite, and it is important to provide jobsite commissioning service, training service and ensure the equipment can work as expected.

There are also different type equipment to treat the OBM cuttings sludge, dosing unit with decanter centrifuge is also a not bad solution. Compared with the centrifuge solution, the Filter press solution can be lower investment in equipment, easier operation, lower maintenance rate and higher treatment capacity.  However, the filter press solution will cover a bigger footprint than centrifuge solution. Also, it is not continuously treatment compared to centrifuge solution. The company teams need to evaluate the work condition and make proper decision by comprehensive considerations.
