KES Separation Mobile TDU Successfully Commissioned in Southern African Region

KES Separation has successfully completed the commissioning of a Mobile Thermal Desorption Unit (TDU) at client’s site in Africa. This project marks an important milestone for KES Separation.

KES Separation Thermal Desorption Unit

The TDU is designed for the treatment of oily sludge, oil-based drilling cuttings, plastics, rubber, and other organic waste materials. The unit uses direct heating thermal desorption technology. Through a controlled heating process, oil, water, and volatile components are separated from the waste materials. Valuable resources can be recovered, while the treated solids can meet environmental treatment requirements.

During the commissioning period, the KES Separation engineering team worked closely with the client’s technical team. The engineers completed equipment inspection, system adjustment, and performance testing together with the client. Every detail was carefully checked to ensure stable operation and reliable performance.

We conducted three test runs with wet cuttings. Based on the test results, several onsite adjustments and improvements were completed to ensure the entire system operated smoothly and reliably. The treatment process successfully recovered high-quality light oil from the oily waste.

The TDU features a mobile skid-mounted design, with most systems fully integrated and factory-tested before shipment. This greatly reduces onsite installation work. After arriving at the project site, the unit was installed, commissioned, and put into operation efficiently. Installation was completed in just 3–4 days. The compact design helped the customer save time and reduce installation costs.

This successful commissioning demonstrates the strong adaptability of KES Separation’s TDU technology in overseas projects. It also highlights the company’s professional engineering capability and commitment to customer service.

Following the successful operation of the first TDU, the customer has placed an order for a second set Mobile TDU. The second unit is now almost completed and currently under preparation for delivery. It will be ready for shipment soon and will continue to support the customer’s waste treatment operations.

According to regional industry reports, the Middle East and African TDU market is showing rapid growth, with rising demand for efficient, flexible and cost-effective environmental treatment equipment. Moving forward, KES Separation will continue to rely on independent technological innovation to provide global clients with turnkey solutions covering mud recycling systems, drilling waste management, oily sludge treatment units, brine filter systems, offshore container supply, drill rig & mud pump services and oilfield electrical solutions, alongside complete turnkey thermal treatment and drilling waste management technologies.

We offer regional customers full-lifecycle support spanning pre-sales consultation, on-site installation supervision, equipment operational training and routine maintenance, empowering local enterprises to achieve cleaner, safer and more sustainable industrial operations.
